Description. Our home is a large, renovated traditional Queenslander on a quarter acre block. It is a raised weatherboard home with high ceilings and five bedrooms. The main bedroom has a Queen size bed, ensuite bathroom, TV and VCR. The guest bedroom has a pull down double-bed. Two smaller bedrooms have single beds. (A third smaller bedroom would be locked, containing extraneous household stuff.) There are two more bathrooms and an interior laundry with washer and dryer. All rooms have ceiling fans. The house has a comfortable formal lounge and dining room, and a beautiful well-equipped timber kitchen with family eating area. There is also a family room with TV,VCR, games, etc. Downstairs is an air conditioned music room/art studio. The whole house has just been recarpeted. A large deck provides breezes and views and has a great barbecue for those warm summer evenings. The fenced garden is well-treed, has swings, a trampoline and a shady paved area, a pool, and a hen house. (We could ask ! someone to look in on the chooks, or you might enjoy them. We let them range free in the yard every now and then.) We do not smoke and prefer others to smoke outside. Brisbane has a sub-tropical climate which is perfectly suited to pavement cafes and outdoor dining, and there are plenty of eateries. The city has a modern museum, and an arts and theatre complex. (Brisbane is a 1 hour, 15 minute flight from Sydney) Our neighbourhood is Yeronga, a well-established, leafy and desirable area, only a ten minute drive from the Brisbane city centre. It is a quiet inner Southern suburb. There are parks and local shops nearby and buses in our street, and the train station is at the end of the street, a 15 minute walk away. Two large shopping malls are an easy 20 minute drive away. The Brisbane River is a couple of blocks away and the ferry is 7 minutes drive or a short bike ride away. Ferries go to the city, Queensland University, Southbank Parklands, and many spots of interest in Brisbane. There are pleasant parks and walking/cycling paths along the river. We have bikes, roller blades, scooters, etc. It is a one hour drive south to the Gold Coast beaches, theme parks, and the National Parks of the hinterland; a one and a half hour drive to the northern beaches and parks of the Sunshine coast. We could possibly leave one of our cars for you.
