Occupation:
We are a family of four. Phil (49) is a contract accountant who plays
bridge, enjoys sport, and doesn’t get much time for much else. Ann (49) is
an accountant who is currently doing a part time acting course and has
been in a few short films (mostly for uni students) (Phil and Ann both
work in Brisbane City). David (19) is in second year Uni in Brisbane City
(Maths/Business) and enjoys pool, computer games and ten-pin bowling. Lynn
(15) is in Year 10 she goes to guides, horse riding and jujitsu she also
enjoys computer games and like her mother is an avid reader. |

Description. Detached home in an
elevated position in a northern Suburb of Brisbane. A 30 year old brick
house on two levels. Elevations of brick beneath a tiled roof. The
property adjoins other properties back and side and fronts a suburban
residential street. Access from the street leads almost immediately to the
car port which fills the front left hand side of the house. The
accommodation is on two levels. A dog-leg stairs to the right of the front
door lead to the bathroom and toilet straight ahead, two large bedrooms on
the right both with sofa beds/futon in addition to the main single bed.
Turning left from the stairs leads to a large open study/play area with
polished wooden floors with access to: a double bedroom, a twin bedroom
and a kitchenette (currently used as a storage area). All bedrooms are
carpeted and have built in wardrobes. The twin room is the only one
without a ceiling fan. The bottom of the stairs leads from the carpeted
lounge room on the left side of the house. Access to the cork-tiled
kitchen is straight through the right hand side of the Lounge. The
carpeted computer/dining room is accessed from the far left corner of the
Lounge and the near left corner of the kitchen. The kitchen has an open
vista into the family room between the kitchen wall and floor cupboards on
the right hand wall. The near right side of the kitchen is the access to
the large tiled family room which houses an extendable oval dining table,
an easy chair, six seater corner unit with pull out sofa bed,
TV/DVD/Video/Hi Fi unit plus bank of bookcases on the right wall. Folding
doors give access to a narrow laundry room and a sliding door to a
toilet/shower room on the left wall. The back door, on the left near wall
of the family room accesses the patio (with Table, chairs and BBQ) and the
in-ground salt water chlorinated pool. (Across the patio is a single story
brick building/room which is the home of a parent. This room will be
vacant but not accessible during any exchange) To the left of the patio is
garden shed.
There is a grassed area and shrubs on the far side of the pool at the
back. A grass area on the right side of the house and lawns and flower
beds at the front. Access to the back yard can be from either side of the
house or from the family room.
We have 1 full size and 1 ¾ size bicycle.
A Mitsubishi Starwagon 8 seater vehicle can be made available.
About 10km (15 minutes off peak) north of Brisbane. A major city bus
service running frequently can be reached by a 5-10 minute walk. Three
major shopping malls are 5 & 10 minutes by car. Two shopping centres
(Supermarket, bakers, veggie shop, butchers, newsagents, bottle shop, and
health club) are about a ten minute walk. There are many parks within a
short distance. There are an extensive number of recreational
opportunities in the area. Brisbane Forest Park is a 10 to15 minute drive.
Excellent restaurants / Excellent shopping/ Galleries/Museums
Theatres/ Health club/ Forests/ Sports/ Beaches
We have two unfriendly budgies who can be housed elsewhere if necessary.
We prefer non smokers. Brisbane airports about 20 minutes away. Sunshine
coast approx one hour drive. Gold Coast (Theme Parks) approx 1 ¼ hours. |
