Description. Toronto Downtown House
- Suits a Couple
The house is located in one of the finest communities in Toronto – “Greektown”,
located 5 minutes on foot from the Bloor/Danforth subway line and 10
minutes from downtown by subway.
First – the house:
It’s fairly small, about 1700 square feet and suited for a couple with no
children. The house is detached, built circa 1910 and has many cosy
features. Our house is filled with original art (we hope you like our
taste) and all the furniture is antique.
First floor –Front porch facing west , stain glass front door leads to a
small living room with a woodburning fireplace, separate dining room, an
eat-in kitchen (Miele dishwasher), fridge with ice maker, microwave,
toaster oven, gas stove, which leads to a “laundry room” with a full size
Miele washer and dryer. A side door takes you from the kitchen to a raised
vine - covered cedar deck with teak furniture, overlooking a shaded
perennial garden. The desk boasts a copper water fountain and a fun
collection of “gargoyles”. There is a powder room off the dining room.
Second floor – a good size den, with TV, the “treadmill room” which has
yes, a treadmill, a small TV, and a single bed – it’s really too small to
call it a guest room, ideal for a sick partner or if you’ve had a fight!
The master bedroom is large, with a chez lounge, queen size bed, and a
dressing table. The main bathroom is small too – but efficient – there is
an air massage tub, a separate shower stall, the best toilet (Toto) and
sink all finished in a warm cedar paneling.
Third floor or loft – sloping ceilings and a stairway make this space
perfect for reading or an office. You can’t really stride about. There are
two desks and one high speed internet line.
The house has air conditioning, humidifier, water softener, alarm system,
new windows, new roof, freshly painted, cable, etc. Smoking outside only
please.
Who would like our house?: a professional couple who would appreciate
being downtown, all shopping is literally at the end of our street – a
drug store, 2 supermarkets, everything is a two minute walk. You can get
to everything quickly in Toronto either via the subway or grab a taxi.
Within a 15 minute walk you’ll encounter over 15 restaurants with a huge
variety – from Greek, to Thai, to nouvelle the Danforth has it all
including one of best Irish pubs, Allen’s.
The negatives? – no parking, but it’s around the corner and about $6.00
per day. You are in an urban environment and while not loud, like New
York, it is busy, and bustling. There is “good activity” on the Danforth.
It’s happening. Neighbours are close by. Time frame: depends where you are
from. We are looking to exchange September/October 2003 and probably for
10 days to two weeks.
- and by the way, our cleaning lady will visit every Wednesday |
