House in Spring

Spacious Dining Room

Our home: Our house is a 2,700 sq. ft. two storey house located on a one acre private site surrounded by trees in a semi rural setting. We are two miles from Tullamore a town with a population of 8,000, equidistant between Galway on the west coast and Dublin on the east coast. There is a direct rail link between these two cities. Our house was extended in 1998, adding on a 40 foot long open plan living area with wooden floors and a galleried study overhead. We also built on a large kitchen / family room, play room with en-suite shower. The kitchen is bright and has an 8 foot table, and all the usual modern conveniences. There are three bedrooms, and a cot (crib) are also available. There is a large garden. At the front there is a colourful climbing frame with slide and also three swings. The rear garden is south facing with a large BBQ patio. There are trees on all sides of the house and we have a lot of visiting birds . We live in a peaceful quiet area two miles from town. The area is well known for good fishing in its lakes, rivers, and canal. The Slieve Bloom mountains (20 minutes drive) have lovely walks and hikes. There are a few equestrian centres close by for riding enthusiasts. Very old and interesting houses and castles can be seen. Birr (30 minutes drive) is a small town with Georgian architecture and is renowned for its Birr Castle Demesne, where in the 19th century was situated the world’s largest telescope. The telescope has been recently restored. . Galway and Dublin are within very easy driving distance for day trips. In Tullamore you are not too far from anywhere really!
