(know as Shoe House of Bells) of 1600 sq. ft. with a large exterior deck
sits on a 1/4 acre forested mountain lot (we live in a view) with kitchen,
dinning room, front room, two bedrooms two bathrooms, one en-suite and
laundry facilities. Our all season friendly cedar home has a rear deck
equipped with gas grill, Jacuzzi and bird and squirrel feeders. We have no
domestic pets and do not desire any in our home. If you are interested in
seeing the our home go to the following site for lots of information
www.houselink.org
and anything that is highlighted you can click on and see in greater
detail. The home is air-conditioned but seldom used. It has forced air
heating with a front room fireplace. Kitchen complete with dishwasher,
large refrigerator, garbage disposal, microwave, toaster and toaster oven,
coffee maker, electric stove with broiler (grill) and other amenities.
Front room has Cable TV, Laser Disk Player, VCR and CD player with
surround sound. Select from over 100 movies to watch [laser or tape] or
from over 500 CD's of various kinds of music. Wonderful to wake up to.
There is a double car detached garage with an automatic door opener.
The Neighborhood: Idyllwild is a charming and exceedingly
friendly Artisan community of around 3,500. We have two grocery stores and
many unique restaurants with one of California's top 10 Chinese
restaurants. There are many unusual and inviting small shops in our
community. Idyllwind hosts many cultural events all seasons of the year,
like the highly acclaimed Jazz Festival in August. We are at 5,800' so we
are on a mountain with mountain roads. We are close to Palm Springs and 2
hours to the beach, 2.5 hours to San Diego and 2.5 hours to Los Angeles.
Disney Land, Universal City, Knotts Berry Farm, Getty Museum, Huntington
Library with it's beautiful gardens and art, the Palm Springs Tram,
gambling casinos and many other diverse attractions are readily
accessible. For those that want to rock climb there is an out-crop that
many use. The "John Muir" trail and Pacific Coast Trail goes
through Idyllwild. There are many trails in the area. A Rangers office has
the up to date information on all of them. A backpackers and hikers
paradise. You will find two mountain bikes available. Other Information:
We do NOT want either smokers OR children in the home. It is filled with
decorator things everywhere and small children are NOT welcome. We DO NOT
smoke so if there is smoke in the house, it had better be on fire!!!! We
have a 1994 Chrysler LHS available for use. We are about 2 hours from
Ontario Airport and 45 minutes from Palm Springs [less traffic to get to
our home]. We will arrange to have you picked up one of three Airports,
Palm Springs, Ontario or San Diego, and the same person would be available
to open the house. If you desire (not a good choice) Los Angeles as a
destination then there would be a shuttle available for about $160.00. We
will NOT arrange for pickup at this airport. There is no bus or train
service. There is the Jacuzzi that will need chemicals and the provided
help will know what needs to be done as well as where things are both in
the house and in the area. Our Destination: We have been to Alaska for a
month and England twice which includes 2 months as a home exchange so
would prefer another destination. Our preference now would be something
like Washington State, Idaho, Montana and the North Eastern part of the
United States like Maine.
The Dates: Most any time considered but our first choice would be
this August and/or September for 2-6 weeks...
The People: Donna has been an Executive Secretary for a number of
years and then she and her husband of 37 years became missionaries in
Northern Mexico for over six years. Darrell worked for both Radio and TV
stations around the central and western states. He retired from the Better
Business Bureau in Peoria, Ill to marry Donna and moved to Idyllwild in
1995. Darrell's hobbies include amateur radio, Riverside Mountain Rescue
Unit [communications person] and reading. We both are professional CLOWNS
and Donna is currently President of The Golden Clowns of Hemet
Alley.
