About Lake Wildwood
Lake Wildwood (LWW) is tucked in the foothills of the Sierra Nevadas near the Tahoe
National Forest and the historic Gold Country towns of Grass Valley/ Nevada City. This
lovely area has a temperate climate were you can enjoy all four seasons with mild winters,
warm summers and beautiful spring and fall weather.
LWW is a private gated community with 2,850 residential lots and is currently 85% built
out. Boise Cascade developed the property in 1970 as a recreation area for vacation homes.
Since 1980 it has transformed into a bustling full year residency community with nearby
shopping, grade schools and professional offices. Homes range in price from $100,000 to
over $1,000,000 and lots from $20,000 to $300,000. The average size of a lot is one third
of an acre. Larger home sites are availlable surrounding Lake Wildwood.
LWW is owned by the homeowners association and has a general manager, staff and elects
7 directors from the association. It has extensive CC&Rs; which are designed to
protect and preserve the beauty and ambiance of the community.
LWW receives 95% of its rain during the winter months and very little from June through
September. At approximately 1,200 above sea level, it is generally above the valley fog
and below the average mountain snow line.
LWW is located in Penn
Valley, less than 2 hours away from Reno and Lake Tahoe, 3 hours to the Bay Area, 20
minutes to Beale Air Force Base, and 1 hour north of Sacramento and Sacramento
International Airport. Grass Valley and Nevada City are 10-15 minutes to the east via
state highway 20. (click on map for larger version)
All the common areas in Wildwood are well maintained, and the championship 18 hole golf
course is a special asset since the fees are so reasonable. The 300 acre lake is for
recreational use and remains the same level all year long except for a short maintenance
period during the winter.
Lake front homes own their lake frontage privately and can have their own beach and
dock. LWW also have six tennis courts, five public beach areas and parks, and a pool plus
many other organized clubs and activities.
Wildwood has its own sewer system, city metered water, cable TV, garbage pick-up, mail
delivery, and private security guards. It has two gates which are manned 24 hours a day
and car patrols on duty, making it an ideal situation for those who travel part of the
year and want an extra measure of security.
Association members (property owners) and guests
have access to several of LWW's common facilities such as the main clubhouse. In the
spring the azaleas and dog woods welcome you to main activity center for the association
which houses the administration offices, the clubhouse meeting rooms and the full service
dining and bar areas. The club house overlooks the putting green and golf course with
outdoor covered decks for relaxation.

LWW's
private 18 hole golf course offers challenging play on one of the most picturesque golf
courses in northern California. The 165 acre, 6,500 yard course meanders through the
southern part of LWW where golfers encounter ponds, creeks and the breath-taking natural
beauty of the Sierra Nevada foothills. Deer, wild turkey, migrating geese, and many other
friendly inhabitants make playing this course particularly pleasurable. Of course, a full
service pro shop provides everything from rental carts to golfing attire. Wallkers as well
as private golf cars are permitted.

The 300
acre lake offers year round recreation. During the warmer months boaters enjoy water
skiing, sailing, canoeing and fishing. More than seven miles of shoreline, complete with a
marina and boat launching ramps, beckons residents of all ages. Patio boaters enjoying
cruising the lake especially near sundown.
LWW has two tennis complexes with the recent
construction of four new courts near the north gate for a total of six
courts. An active tennis club keeps the courts humming with tournaments, lessons, and
individual play.
On the north side of the lake, swimmers can enjoy
either the beaches and lake swimming or a modern swimming pool complex with dressing rooms
and a marina party room.
Children can play on the nearby beach or the
playground area. There are 65 acres of parks and green belt throughout LWW. The largest
park, Commodore Park is situated on the north side of the lake and has acres of lush green
grass, swimming beach, covered pavilion, BBQ grills, picnic tables and restroom
facilities. All the common areas can be reserved for private parties.
Smaller, but just as popular, Vista Park is on the
opposite shore and offers many of the same amenities as the other parks. Vista is one of
the busiest parks on the lake and the site of many multi-family get togethers. Watching
the sunset from Vista Park is always a great way to end a summer day's outing.
Lake Wildwood, a serene, secure oasis in an otherwise crowded, stressful world. A place
where residents enjoy the best of country living amidst Ponderosa pines, oaks, and an
abundance of wildlife. A place where you can live your vacation year round.
