Description. I am a
semi-retired Rehabilitation Psychologist and consultant. My wife and I are
interested in an exchange preferably three to six months. I use a
wheelchair and need a first floor bed room or an area to use as such. Our
house in the United States is a three bedroom ranch located in New England
in North Branford, near New Haven Connecticut. We desire to travel &
live in Latin America or Europe but will consider USA. House has three bed
rooms, a living room and a large combination office/dining room off the
kitchen. (use of the computer and equipment possible) Large deck with a
ramp offers wheelchair access to the kitchen and roll in access to the
master bedroom. Lots of windows offer great views of attractively
landscaped property abutting the town-owned woods. Within a short walk
from the house visitors can swim and fish in a small lake maintained by
the local home owners association. North Branford is in the
central/south-central area of Connecticut combining the country atmosphere
of New England with the sophistication of a cosmopolitan environment. The
town is within fifteen minutes of New Haven, the home of Yale University,
world class museums, theaters, restaurants, and art galleries. In
addition, the area has many state parks, tennis courts, golf courses, and
beaches to keep the one physically active and provide for rest and
relaxation. New York is sixty minutes away and Boston ninety. These cities
can be reached by rail from a shoreline station two miles from the house
or by an interstate highway system. Accessibility information: The house
is entered from a ramped deck through either the kitchen door or the
bedroom door. It's all on one level. Unfortunately the bathroom is not
accessible. I am a quadriplegic and use a power chair around the house and
grounds. Para-transit is available. I have a modified van and may work out
swap. I or another member in my household is physically disabled.
