Description. We live in a
comfortable three bedroom 2 1/2 bath home in a suburban neighborhood with
very good neighbors, large lawn, with lots and lots of trees. The
spring or fall is a good time to visit as it gets warm and humid in the
summer, but it never gets really cold in the winter.
We are eight miles from Beaumont, Texas, home of Lamar University. We are
less than two hours from busy Houston, which offers, professional
sports, theme parks, etc. Historic Galveston, also a day trip, will give
you excellent seafood (of course it is just caught), historic Victorian
homes and beautiful beaches. We are only thirty miles from the Gulf
of Mexico and the beautiful beaches of Sabine Pass where a Civil War
battle was fought when the Union Army came to capture Texas through the
Gulf of Mexico. Another day trip would be to the Alabama Coushatta
Indian Reservation. The tours of the reservation will not only be
interesting but will provide you with the knowledge of the Indian culture
and history. Louisiana state is a short thirty minutes. Just across
the border you will find class "A" horse racing, casino gambling,
fantastic French Cajun food, and Cajun history and culture. Port Arthur,
Texas is only fifteen miles away and also offers French Cajun food, Cajun
culture and deep sea fishing. It is the home of the late famous rock
singer, Janis Joplin, the former Dallas Football coach Jimmy Johnson and
one of the original singing Cowboys, Tex Ritter. This area is known for
its many museums and it is advertised as the museum capital of the world.
Nacogdoches is a short distance and is one of the oldest cities in the
nation with lots of antique shopping, the tallest pine trees and women in
Texas. Austin (state capital), San Antonio, Dallas, Fort Worth and Mexico
are all only a short five hours drive. The closest airport is Jefferson
County in Beaumont. Houston is the closest International airport and it is
a very short drive. We, Wesley and Pat, always travel to Houston when we
fly any distance.
We would like to offer you a chance to visit Beautiful East Texas and the
Lone Star State of Texas.
